Thanked: 5Barbershop's while traveling
El Garage Barber Shop (Medellin, Colombia)
When you travel frequently I can be difficult (airport security) to bring your favorite shaving equipment, so why not experience the local Barber Shop at you location.
Here are some pictures of my Barber experience in Medellin, Colombia. I decided to take my three Consultants out for a shave and dinner, after a successful completion of a project.
The Barber Shop I found is called “EL GARAGE BARBER SHOP”. The atmosphere of the Barber shop is a mix between Bike Bar, Garage and Barber, with some classic rock playing in the background.
About the Shave, it seems to be a different experience lever between the Barbers but in general they did an excellent job. The shave included, a brief pretreatment, lathering, hot towel, steam machine pointing at your face, more lathering, shave (the steam machine was on all the time), followed by a cleanup, cold towel (rubbing a big ice-cube on the towel while it’s on your face), post shave lotion and I got their in-house made beard oil for my goatee
NOTE: Not all barbers had Straight Razor, three of the four barbers were using Shavettes.
Overall experience was great and I like the fact that you have to walk through the bar/waiting room in order to get the barber. Would I come back to this place again, ABSOLUTELY!!!

Just found a new spot here in North County San Diego in Temecula. Old Town Barber shop. Place had a nice atmosphere, beer in the fridge, and a lot of butts in the waiting seats.
Kevin, believe he's an owner, gave me a fine classic executive with a dash of military reg...had the pomade ready to go for final sculping and I walked out of there with the best hair cut in years, and feeling like I did when I was a kid and we would spend 3-4 hrs hanging at the local shop.
Still flying high off the exerpience.Keep it safe and Cheers,
Jer

Aloha!
In Hawaii, if any of you gentlemen get here on business or pleasure and want a quality wet straight razor shave (Feather Blade Shavette) and/or a haircut, I can whole-heartedly recommend "MOJO Barbershop" in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. This is a truly stellar establishment that knows how to properly wet shave a gentleman. And their hair cutting and other services are also superb. Plus, they also offer a good line of quality accessories and grooming products.

Here in Central Illinois there is a guy who started a Lockhart's Barber College in Taylorville. They claim to 'specialize in straight razor shave', as well as traditional men's cut/styling. Since the school, they have also opened 2 shops in Decatur, 1 in Mt. Zion and 1 in Shelbyville.
While I, personally, have not been to them. I have several friends who go there, mainly for the shave and warm lather neck shave.

Just an FYI;
This thread is to showcase barbershops around the world.
It is not a thread to discuss a country's politics, religion or crime.
Thank you,,,,

Is that the shop in Southern California that has a huge selection of Morris & Forndran brushes that he will only sell if you come to the store. Won't sell them online, if it's the place I'm thinking of, next time you're there, check out some of those spectacular brushes....I know the place I'm thinking of is in SoCal....

Hey Phrank,
Don't think so. Didn't see any brushes for sale.
This place has been in it's current location about a year. Forgot where the old location was located. I kind of messed up when I said San Diego County. I live right on the boarder of SD and Riverside county. Temecula is actually in Riverside.
If you remember the shop let me know. I'd love to go check out the MF brushes.
Marty may know the place you're talking about. He's about 45 mins from me, and has spent some time in Temecula hitting the antique shops (a man of many talents and professions that Marty is). Maybe some of the other SoCal mbrs will chime in.
