My mate and fellow Mentor Mick who is down under sent me a picture of his pool in the back yard. I looked closely and saw what appeared to be three crocodiles in his pool and I wrote back:
"Mate, please tell me that those aren't crocs in your pool"!
He wrote back; "Naw mate, those are just floaters, keeps the birds from sh**ting in your pool"!Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 9Reviving an old thread....
I'm tackling a small upgrade/repair in my master bath shower. Replacing the old faucets with a new single knob unit. Have removed and saved most of the tile (some broke and need to be replaced), and removed cement the tiles were set in, plaster, and metal lath. Next step is shutting the water off and draining water pipes, removing the old faucets, cutting some new pieces of 1/2" copper to connect the new unit, sweating all the connections, and then turning the water back on temporarily to flush out any crap in the pipes so there is no dust or dirt in the new plumbing and fixture. Then to the tile store to try to match up new tile as best I can, get some metal lath or rock lath, some plaster, and some cement to reset the tiles. Also, SWMBO wants some new shelves so I'll get some solid marble pieces and set them in the wall when I set the tiles in. Hope to be done and showering in there again by or before next weekend. I'll add more pics as I progress.
Now why did my picture get flipped?

I wouldn't even try to match the tiles but make a pattern out of something else.

I agree. Making a nice pattern out of a different color might be better than try to match. Unless you can find exact. Nice idea.

I'm no plumber but nowadays most of them try and go in from the back wall so you don't have to break up all that old tile. Afterwards they leave an access panel in the back for future repairs.

If possible. Some times thats not an option. Unless you have been sweating pipes a lot Id recommend a few practice pieces first. Its not difficult as long as you get your connections very clean and use flux. And dont over hhea or use too much flux or solder. That can cause pin holes years later. I bet you can find vids on youtube on sweating pipes.

My dad couldn't sweat a pipe to save his life. I have no problems at all. Shark bite connections work well too.

Thanked: 9Finished the project last week. Matching tiles was not easy but I came close. The rounded over tiles on top fell off and broke as I was installing the new shower faucet and I had a choice of white, black, or pink - chose white. First shower on Friday.
