    Default Got Mead?

Well I've been doing some research so I thought I would start with this simple brew... They say it is "fool" proof... If so, then maybe this "Fool" can make it...

I have two batches brewing; Orange Lemon and Orange Cranberry...

It was pretty simple, Water, Honey, Yeast and Fruit...

Here are a picture a week into it...

Also, here is a great website to get started...

Cool I love mead, especially "Dansk Mjød"! I will try it sometime.

The ads on the site are inspirational. I am going to stop off at BevMo on the way home to see if I even like mead.

Thats very cool, and so simple. I make my own beer, wine, spirits, etc, but have never tried mead - will be rectifying that tonight!

Let us know how it turns out.

I bet that if I could find some "Killer Bee" Honey... I could make some "Killer Mead"

Ahh mead. Back in college, I lived with a brewing major and a guy who loved mead. We used the brewer's gear to make some tasty business meads. The following was one of the best batches: The mead was originally just supposed to be an orange blossom honey mead, but some sugar was left in the mix and after bottling (in pressure rated glass bottles luckily) there was an accidental secondary fermentation resulting in a sparkling mead! One of the best drinks I've ever had.

We also made some mead that we steeped in blood oranges and blood orange juice which we ended up kegging and carbonating with pressurized C02. We hooked it up to the keggerator in our garage with an open tap for one of our parties. The mead was 14% abv and more than one unsuspecting party guest bit off a bit more than they could chew that night. Still fun though. Mead is always a good time, especially since it is so easy to make.

Here we are enjoying the sparkling batch on our roof as the sun sets on a day that would later become fond memories for all of us:

My friend's reaction as we realized we were pouring sparkling mead!

Enjoying the fruits of our (and the bee's) labor.
