Antique rings, looking for sources..
After 3 years with my gf I've decided to make an honest woman out of her. She has expressed an interest in an antique filligree engagement ring. They can be found fairly easily with a search on the net but I'm wondering if anyone knows any trusted sources. Since many here are knowledgeable when it comes to antiques i figured id throw it out there. I've got about 1k to drop on it. Let me know if you have any ideas gents. The knot must be tied.

Thanked: 146Congratulations! Most local jewelers carry vintage or estate jewelry. Have you looked at them?

I haven't been around to the local shops yet. I found a few I liked on Etsy so far. There are some well rated jewelers in this area but I did not think they would handle antiques. Ill take a look next week!

When you find someone, please let me know. My buddy is in Albany and I suspect he too will be popping the question in the near future.
Thanks and good luck on the ring hunt!

Thanked: 101Congrats. This may not help you out......Here's the story- My wife was given a bag of gaudy costume jewelry from her mother. Some real hideous stuff! I went through it all and found 3 gold rings. One white gold and the other 2 yellow gold. She promptly told her mother that there was gold jewelry and she didn't believe her. She said to keep all of it no matter what. I took the white gold ring, which was a very ornate and intricately detailed filigree type, to my buddy who is a jeweler. It was missing the diamond in the setting, and I asked him if he could recommend what to do. He mounted a new diamond in it for me (my wife) for a very nominal fee. He also told me that judging by the design and workmanship in the ring that it was over 100 years old. I was impressed. Just a little side story..........Neat little old ring.

Throughout that part of N.Y and Vermont there are plenty of Antique shops and malls. Those are the places to look.
I bought my wife an antique ring some years ago in an antique mall in San Diego, Ca. It was white gold with tiny sapphires in it.
They are out there you just have to look.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
