Thanked: 5Fountain Pens
I've always been a fan of good, cheap disposable pens like the Pilot G2. Recently I landed a sweetheart of a job and decided to treat myself to a nice pen that took G2 refills. While I was looking into it; fountain pens caught my attention and down the rabbit hole I fell. I wound up buying this beauty, a TWSBI Classic. It looks and writes like a dream.

I have liked fountain pens and good writing paper for a long time now. I have quite a collection. You can enjoy writing with a fountain pen as little as $20 or spend as much as thousands. You can also get hundreds and hundreds of different color inks.

My uncle gave me a Sheaffer lifetime pen when I graduated High School and I still have it. Over the years I've had many but my favorite was a Waterman. The right combination of silky smoothness and a bit of scratchness. I thought the Mont Blanc was too smooth. I sold most of them but I kept that one lifetime.

i've recently got interested in fountain pens also (after getting one for my son for a graduation gift). The practical/ frugal side of me doesn't allow a big budget so i have been having fun ordering cheap ones from China on ebay. The wait is usually long with the free shipping but they are surprisingly fun to use. Waiting on another right now.

smoothiness of a nib,is something of really easy to correct or to increase...or deacrease. it's always a question of honing.

Tintin, if you're looking to try out some of the less costly pens, try Noodlers. I've read very good things about them in quite a few places.
I use their ink, and am very happy with it, great ink, great price.Look sharp and smell nice for the ladies.~~~Benz

I've been using a fountain pen for 60 years. I don't have a collection, but I do have a couple Mont Blanc pens and a Pelikan. It all started in the 5th grade, when Mrs. Hill taught us to write using the Palmer method. Every week we had to take the bottle of ink from the ink well in our desk to have it filled, and to pick up a new nib for our nib holder. I enjoyed the whole process and have used a fountain pen ever since, and can't imagine writing with anything else.
