I would have tried to file it to fit, if it came to it but it’s a swagged cable, like a Dremel flex tool. I’d worry about stray wire strands and the like. Plus the choices, stock, were too short, or too long, basically 3’, or 8’ long. I need 6’ ideally.

And at $70 for the pair, I’m ok with that.

Is it worth it probably no but you could have tapped it with a hammer to make it smaller.

Of all the stuff you have modified with this project that would be a minor detail.

The perfect fit part is always best. Not a bad price for them to boot

I have modified and improved many specs of this car, by design, or forced obstructions. The goal is and was to make it the most reliable, and true to spirit resto/mod I could. Keep it as British as I could while doing so.
Brakes improved, suspension improved, engine balance and position improved, fuel delivery improved, handling improved, etc.
Finishing off little nuances Like the heater bulk head fitting and pipe work, as well as the master hydraulic reservoir.
Note the firewall access for the heater box bulkhead fitting now.

And regarding the hydraulics and the decal,
It’s a water transfer, haven’t played with one of these in 45 years.

But with the feed pipes bent and plumbed, and the pedal cover I made installed, it didn’t turn out too ugly at all, and it functions! Note the completed heater pipe in copper as well.

Think the next step will be insulting/soundproofing the firewall from the inside before the steering column and wiring go in..
    Cheers.

I see you have an ugly blemish on that cover again. Other than that things sure are looking good. Thanks for keeping us up to date on your progress. I find it fascinating to watch. Can't wait to see it done (and go for a ride when you take your trip through North West Ohio!)

Whatcha doing for brake fluid, Mike? I don't think they make the LMA anymore. Any natural rubber in the brake system left?

I was running DOT 5 before but am not sure as the girlings say warranty void if silicon fluid used.
Might just be a caveat and I like that it’s not hydroscopic like the other fluids, or a pant stripper either..
4 times the price, but only need to do it once. What are you running in your sunbeam?
Presume my natural rubber is all replaced now as the wheel cylinders and seals are all newish..

Yeah that damn paint blem keeps reappearing. Scary stuff,, hehe..

I researched and it seems the DOT 4 synthetic is most popular now.
I have been using the Castrol DOT 4 in my old Brit for several years with no issues.
Had trouble with silicone back when I tried that. Stuff wanted to crystallize.

F-#king government again with the duty charges on what nobody could mistake as a new part.
But I don’t care, looks much better than what I had. And if I do decide to rechroming this would be an easy job.
