Thanked: 4206Thanks John, appreciate that.
Spent some time getting the piping all correct on the front valance and fenders, as well as the rubbers.
Ran the wiring through the supports for the main beams as well.
Also finished mounting the new front sway bar, and am adding the shims to eliminate a little play in the front left wheel.
All the little details now.
Next will be final tightening the suspension and adding all the cotter pins. Then I will be adding brake fluid and trying to bleed the system.

Thanked: 4206Tonight checked suspension integrity, installed locking hardware, replaced the rear brake shoes, degreased front rotors, final tightened front hubs, installed clutch line and finished the brake connections all around. Just need to add the fluid now and the brakes and clutch will be back online. Cept for the ebrake cables.
On the weekend maybe get all my fluids replenished. And go over the engine bay one more time.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Oh boy it's looking good, Mike! Those colors are cool!
Do you have a Mitivac or similar with the reservoir to suck air out?
Might be handy. Lots of line, nooks and crannies!

Midivac! I remember that name. And the power bleeder ball that looks like a gas bottle for a barbque. Made bleeding lines so easy.
Good luck Mike. Its just around the corner now. Dont get in a hurry and miss something. It's just Sharpening, right?

Oh yeah...Those pressure bleeders were a good way to ruin some paint!
Lost to history....
Worked at a Sears Car Center as a kid. Sumbody mistook a 5 gallon of floor cleaner for the brake fluid. Some 70-some Lincoln with the 1st anti-locks was a victim!
Used them a few times and quit.Last edited by sharptonn; 06-10-2022 at 03:52 AM.

Thanked: 4206Yup I have a mity vac somewhere, as well as a vacuum hand pump for fluid exchange. You said DOT 4 is what you are running right Tom, not 5?
Maybe I’ll be ready to fire it up by father day. Then the last hurdle will be hobbling some exhaust pipes in place to get her to the shop for her new complete exhaust system."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Just pulled this up, Mike
"Since DOT 4 and 5.1 are both glycol-based brake fluids they are compatible with each other, which means they can be readily mixed without harming your brake system. It is important never to mistake DOT 5.1 (glycol-based) with DOT 5 which is silicone-based and should never be mixed with any other DOT fluid."
I would go with DOT4 myself. Boiling point is much better than DOT3.
Not like you will be carving a road course. I think cars that use that 5 and 5.1 are hi-perf modern stuff with antilock and traction control.
I will get you a part # for the Castrol Dot 4. If you need more bite on the front, Hawk will have some racing pads in several flavors.Last edited by sharptonn; 06-10-2022 at 01:05 PM.

Years ago I boiled brake fluid one time.
That was scary!
Spend a couple of Canadian dollars more to get more than you need.

There it is.....Old well-used fluid will boil readily. Stuff needs to be changed once a decade or so!
Really, it's the fluid in the calipers/wheel cylinders. That is where the cooked fluid resides.
Bleeding each wheel on occasion is a good thing
