Thanked: 4206Dialed in my beams tonight on a country road. The combo of the led’s and the yellowish fogs works great. Can see way better than before, but these new shiny buckets rattle! Gonna need to add some rubber or silicone in the seam. At idle it’s all you hear now that the brackets are tightened up.
A chilly night drive and I appreciated all the new warm features.
Determined my driveshaft totally rubs on bumps, will need to remove some interfering steel tomorrow then I expect she will be completely quiet going over bumps.

Thanked: 4206Sorting continues today post alignment.
Circled in yellow what’s causing the rattle on the new headlights.
And trusty blue blade tape to the rescue, double plied with a slit for the tang. Noise gone!
Also removed a bunch of the interfering angle and the shaft is much better. Not perfect yet, bit more to do, but all but the heaviest bumps now rides quiet and true.
Took the car on my favorite local windy road and up to speed.. wow,!!
Tracks so much better, no, or only slight body roll now on curves and throttle response seems so much stronger even though the advance isn’t quite there. Steering is solid and firm, not tight anymore.
Yup, rides like the same, but better car.. quieter, more solid body for sure. Like old style new really!"Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Advance it til it rattles, Mike. Back it off til it don't. See how it starts-up.
You should really see what total advance is up to 3000 RPM...

Thanked: 4206Longest trek yet tonight, with the missez over to Hockley Valley, about 45 minutes each way. Then a stop at a local winery on the way home for a bottle to celebrate the run. Wife loves the seat heater and tells me it’s like a whole new car, and very comfortable now. Also told me I was going to fast,, lol, so I guess it’s good.
Spent a few hours properly washing and detailing her tonight as well!
New hubcaps can wait till after the tires are swapped, and I may order some 15” trim rings to finish off the look of the wheels. Them being smaller slightly I’d like to make sure they still tie in with the look of the car..Last edited by MikeB52; 06-29-2022 at 03:00 AM.

Thanked: 556One of these days some bloke is going to drive up beside you and offer a bunch of money for your MG.
Just smile and say, “Thanks, but no thanks.”
What an amazing project! Thanks for sharing all the steps, stumbles and successes.David
