Forgot the stuff laughs at lacquer thinner and acetone so my hands are gonna be painty a few days, damn.
But, it looks better already.
You my friend, are as bad as I am! I've got a couple of boxes of Nitrile gloves but I'll forget all about them and end up with hands painted the same color as my project :gaah:

You are right, I skipped that part Tin.
Minimal blasting was needed actually. I did all around my weld repairs with my handheld unit and where the crossmembers meet with my larger unit. Both with a product called white lightning. Ferrous metal media too abrasive for the body panels but good for the frame..

Wire brushed everything else and used Por15s recommended degreaser, and then metal etch/rust neutralizer prior to applying the finish. Did the wash steps couple of times in fact.
Kept some of the metal prep cause I’m thinking I might dunk an old razor in it overnight, sort of like a neutra rust trial.
Por15 binds to and through surface rust really well, one of its selling features actually.

Next comes finishing the front bumper dumb iron alignment and reinforcement, plumbing the new brake lines, maybe a new fuel line Too, then rebuild the front suspension with the mgb upgrades.
Pretty happy everything survived the winds last night too!

The project grew in scope, significantly from first envisioned, but all that I’m doing will make for a completely enjoyable finished product.
Trying to balance the desire to keep it looking it’s age, but behaving more modernly and reliably. No old car looks cool broken down at the side of the road, hehe.

On Lava soap. Some years back it was getting impossible to find. Going on the bay, I found 48 bar cases. I am on my 3rd case now.
I use it in the shower to get the gunk off the arms, hands, knees, etc. At the shop I use some locally sourced stuff that has teeny poly beads in it. Awesome stuff.
Shopped price and got the last case of Lava for 28 bucks . 'Institutional', smaller bars.
