I won’t be hanging them full time yet Tom, yer right. Get in the way and beat the crap out of my shins.
I will be making sure they fit perfect like, then pull them off again.
Will be painted off car as well.
I know they weren’t wired original, but I want to add door courtesy switches so the car has lit footwell at night. The novelty of getting into a totally dark car wore off and I like lights to get situated..

Wull, it's pretty fun to drive a half-car around the block at some point!

Reminds of an old compadre. Always told the tale of hammering his newly-aquired '68 Vette with no doors or front end down the block back in the 80's.
Brakes failed at an intersection and he got lucky!
At his passing decades later, the old station-wagon powered bomb with a '72 front end held together with Goop, Fiberglass, and tie-wraps was still a POS! Man did he have fun around the blocks.
Wound-up spinning on the esplanade more than thrice!

Dialing in the final fit of the cowl is easier with some of these files I received for this project.

Starting to drill the 5/16 connecting bolt holes. Scary cause they are blind holes that need to line up with brackets on the inside of the frame, but they are at angles I can’t drill out from the inside so need to go in blind and hope I hit them well enough to elongate as needed..

Can see the tool box will need a new floor , and everything needs to be tidied up weld and finish wise, but I’m still verifying fit before I do all the last little pre paint work.
Exciting to see full firewall again, or for me really for the first time.!

Now on to the front wings. Need them back on car to do the final repairs around the leading edges.

Took out 80% of the damage already but need them back on car, held in position to ensure I get that important front curved look as close to true as I can.
Drivers side took the worst damage over the years.

    Looking good my friend

You'd mentioned that you 'Hoped' to get the holes close so you didn't need to do much elongating.

    How'd that go???

19 out of 20 worked out ok. One was like the Chunnel project though and I had to run two holes and meet in the middle, mhehe.
I have a tapered drill bit, for making pipes, and it’s very slender, great for investigative holes. Once I saw day light in each hole I could step up in size and lean the bits the way I wanted them to go.
