Thanked: 4207And now I’m getting into the final paint work.
Will be using these 3D products after I’ve removed all the irregularities with 1000 grit dry, then 3000 wet.
Scary scuffing up new paint but necessary to get the finish I can’t get in a home garage.
This is about there, with the 1k, and it sure eats the paper getting here. Just need to be careful on the edges as I recall.
Will carry on tomorrow when I get more 1k grit. Luckily it’s a small car, relatively speaking. Won’t be too hard to detail."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

As I recall…you have 3-4 good coats of clear on those panels ..eh ? Are you wet sanding…that way the paper lasts longer . Then after a 1K sanding…you need to sand with 1500 or 2000. Don’t forget to put some masking tape on the high edges or adjacent panels when buffing..to prevent burn through. It’s a thankless job…but worth it.

Can't you use 1000 grit Wet n Dry?? The water would wash the residue away---
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 4207I find I go through more of the 1k dry true, but it’s easier/faster to wipe off dry and see if I’m flat yet. I’ll use the higher grits wet, once I know I’m at a level base. Seems less messy overall.
And yup, thanks Ness, I will step up through the grits instead of just jumping to the 3k.
That 3D stuff smells really pleasant and worked very well on the dash, can’t wait to see what it does to the car panels.

Yes wet sanding makes a mess….after I wet sand a section,I have a small 3M rubber spreader ,that I use to wipe the water away..then take my blow gun to air dry and see where Iam at.

Thanked: 4207Using my da and a sponge pad, hard block you say?
Thought the soft pad would blend things better."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Soft pad is fine…as long as your not using a bare hand.
