Bead-blast, sand and polish, Mike. OR bead blast both and clear them.
Got some bug/rock screens at least?

Bead blast them both, with what kinda bead? Good idea.
And yup, there are screens fitted between the stacks and the carbs, just can’t see em in that shot.
They are a fine mesh steel screen of 50 microns. Use them at work in plastic dies. Keep out everything I dare say.

Oh, Glass bead media will give them a uniform texture and will get the blue off. Sand will do same.

Whatever is in the cabinet at work!

My last fire ring was a washer drum. They work great. And with some large rocks around it makes it look nice but still breath well. That was in northern CA.

Still waiting on my mg rim return but the VW is booked in for a new turbo in two days!
Make an appt for next week to get the stg 1 tune installed and she’ll be revved up for winter.
I don’t have the time or desire to learn coding to figure out if my old 2002 1.8 tune would work on the new 1.8 platform.
Won’t have quite the thrill of my ole Corrado, yet, and maybe never, but she will get about 100 extra ponies to the road out of this upgrade. Anything else will require a bunch of hardware. Hence the maybe never caveat.

I always wonder about you VW and MG guys........
I always say Farfetnuggen and Tally-HO!!!!

I think if you look at this pic, you might see room to overlap a chamber for volume and do it up in fiberglass, an awesome airbox/filter is coming. The restrictions in the Velocity things may be killing you.
Also, driving in the rain is not advised!

Hmm, you think my screens are restricting airflow in the velocity stacks? Never considered I was as she doesn’t seem to run rich, but an easy test to remove them outright and see the results.
Now that I know I can clear the smaller stack, I have an actual dimension to work from. Maybe there are Harley or similar low profile filters I can find for the Mikuni’s.
Would like to go to a k and n style washable filter but the size I had to work with was kinda custom.
    To the google!
Buddy with my wheels is now saying maybe by end of the week. Pissing me off a bit as the original scope was one week, and we are pushing 2 now.
