Made a "log cabin" from the logs and waiting for the mushrooms to sprout. Looking at the ends of the logs you can see the white mycellium growing in the sap wood.
I have been waiting for a while but it is a wait and see when it happens

For several years I've planted two Roma tomato plants in this container but this year I decided to play a bit.
I'd saved the seeds from a store bought Butternut Squash last year and planted several in an old egg carton and most all sprouted so I planted two in the container.
One seemed to be doing better than the other so I removed the weakling. I have no idea of how this set up will work as I've never grown any squash other than zucchini.
Anyway, it seems to be doing well.

Peek-A-Boo
Other than just putting a sprinkler out to water the lawn and at the same time my experimental Butternut Squash plant I haven't paid much attention to the squash for a few day. The last time was when I moved some of the vines so that the tendrils could start grabbing hold of the support.
But after I'd hung some laundry out today I took a peek and I found two blossoms.
In the lower right hand of the bottom picture is the fuzzy image of the first blossom.
I believe I can see other pods that should produce more blossoms but I'll have to wait and see.
I am hoping for some squash to harvest and use this fall but if nothing else, it's been fun.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Soon the neighbors are going to start closing their curtains and drapes and not answer the door when they see you coming with zucchini
Back when Ethiopia was having such a hard go with supplying the population with adequate food my buddy came up with the idea of bombing them with zucchini seeds as a single plant would supply an entire neighborhood and they could dry the excess for storage during hard times.
That buddies folks always planted way too much zucchini, there was zucchini bread, pickles etc and when they'd find one that had been missed and had become a giant it was baked but I never cared for baked zucchini.
Enjoy the harvest! Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Funny, we got a big sack of zuchinni from the neighbors. My wife made a sort of zuchinni lasagna with it yesterday that I just knew I wouldn't like-it was fantastic (the woman can cook!)!

French green beans are producing! Fill the bowl every two to three days. Not bad for just two plants. My cherry tomatoes are just starting too, in their prime I can fill the same bowl every two days. Thats when I start canning to have a stash until the next growing year. Got it down to where I can share a little with friends and relatives but I use 90% of all I grow. All 100% Organic! I have never used a pesticide or chemical fertilizer in 16years.
P.S. Mods I don't know why my pics are sideways. It did the same with my last post. Any help I would appreciate it.
