Lets see a picture of that, Tim?
I was to busy working today to take pictures but my wife said she tool a couple she will send me.
This is the smallest from the top of the tree. I am painting the sawdust plugs with wax to protect them.
I like using the tailgate of my truck for a portable work bench.

I couldn't find a Haralson apple without going to extremes so I bought my grandson a Wolf River Apple tree today
It is an heirloom cooking type apple that grows big fruit and is suppose to be relatively easy to grow.
He is 8 and I hope he has the patience and desire to make this work.
The other grandpa gave his OK and has to pick a place in his yard and plant it with him.
Manure?!? I hate manure!!!

Well we have 3 or 4 baby wrens now. Hard to see in the pictures but with the naked eye you can count them.

So you 'plant' the log and mushrooms grow out. Tim? I see you have a new truck?
So as to birds, I have been leaving the jays alone, but a huge limb from the neighbor's tree fell on my lemon tree during a storm.
Fortunately, the nest was fine and momma was not around, so I removed the limb and straightened it up some.
My little lemons seem ok and the babies are fine.
Problem is....I now see 3 babies!! WTF?
2 eggs...

I read where blue jays have been known to steal eggs and hatchlings, but...........
Tried pictures through the binoculars. Just happened to catch the mother or father feeding them. I wanted to center better but hurried to catch feeding time.

Nice birdies Paul and Tom-I think the wrens in my carport have fledged and gone, as the nest was empty as of yesterday. That went quickly. I haven't seen any cats or coons around, so I don't think they were taken this year, but who knows? I think the coyotes that took our two cats a couple summers ago have seriously diminished our neighborhood cat population.
edit: Tom, is it possible for one egg to actually hold two eggs, like twins in 1 shell? I have no idea.
