April: "At least things can't get any worse."
May: "Hold my beer"-Murder Hornets!
Anybody seen one? Roy, aren't they in Washington? Those things would scare the s#*t out of me!

Really have to re-think some stuff since we lost so much to Voles last year..
Over on Glen's Half Acre it have been leveled and scraped, but really the only work is a new 100 yard Shooting Range
This new one is set up so I can actually shoot from the covered Side Shop, where the saw horses are now I guess I will build a new Shooting bench since it can stay under a roof now

I am really glad I set those big ole Cottonwood logs aside when that tree came down instead of putting them in the burn pile
Gave me a great back stop
Going to be a lazy summer I think
Oh, they've been seen in the far tip of the NW of Washington State. I believe they were first noticed sometime December of 2019.
Yup, they are good sized suckers. This one is dead but it will show how big they really are.

First we had to deal with Killer Bees because of some asshole researcher and now this! :banghead:
I do hope that all of the efforts to nip these things in the bud are successful.
Yeah, we've always had the huge Japanese hornets around here, but not these new clown-faced little buggers. I imagine that a sting by either one would be exruciating. I read another article saying that they kill about 50 people a year in the Japanese interior.
And since all wasps seem to hate and target me, and they love to hang out around the shrubbery near my back deck, I keep the knockdown spray handy. Anything with a stinger gets sprayed!
Decided to put this in the garden thread because that is where it is used! Don't have to sweep up the hair and I can put it around my plants to deter rabbits etc.
My wife wanted to throw out this chair but I love the design and function so i have kept it in the garage. One of these days I will/should refinish it!
the hair in the grass has less grey than I thought it would show! LOL

Everything is growing like mad. My camera hit the floor (again!) and I think the battery compartment door cannot be rigged any more. Nobody knows what happened. Yeah...... No more pics for a bit.
I got my wife to take a cell phone pic to-day and send it to me.
Little buggers are growing and feathering. Need to pay more attention as they adventure out.

What a difference a day makes here! Looks as if the 'adopted' one is a few days behind?

Not good weather here for pollination but that is out of my control!
Looking at this picture you can see what I have heard called the king apple or the center one,
The flowers are the same way.
I have been told to cull the ones on the side and leave the middle one to grow.
YMMV :)
