Beautiful work, DB, especially that cherry burl-wow! I'll have to remember to score lines on the bottom for lather-making. What did you use to seal or water-proof it?
Incidentally, that walnut piece I started on yesterday turned out to be pretty wet under the wax at 26%. I'm now trying to dry it using the microwave method (very slowly). Hopefully it will come down to an acceptable level and then I can finish it.

Jerry, I'll bet that Woodcraft near you has a good selection of bowl blanks; the one here does.
I apply 4- 5 coats of Min Wax Polyurethane to seal/waterproof shaving bowls and brush handles.
Yes, they do Aaron. For a very pretty penny too.
I have to make larger pieces. I think it will be lower in cost and more special with the right woods combined. But I've not had any time to turn anything in for two weeks now.
And these coming days off the wife has another project for me to do. I'm hoping to get some wood glued up at least. I sure like that Walnut. I'm finding it is a great wood to turn.
Too bad you don't live around here-I could hook you up with all the wood you want for free.
:aargh:
Large flat rate boxes?
It is Christmas. Lol.
Just do all the rough cutting for me and fill me up a box or 3. :rofl2:
Well. I got that walnut bowl a bit drier in the food dehydrator we got my son for Christmas (which we let him open early to do a couple of batches of deer jerky). It worked perfectly. Anyway, I now have the outside finished to 400 grit, followed by EEE and Shellawax friction polishes.

Now to watch a couple more vids and re-sharpen my bowl gouge before doing the inside-wish me luck!
Fantastic looking piece of wood Aaron.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
I'd really like to eat my Cheerios out of a bowl like that.

Aaron, I don’t think you need luck, because you have skills. Remember the tortoise always wins.
