    Default Fencing and Other Crap

OK guys, I've been in El Cajon which is about 20 miles North of San Diego. I'd been called by my oldest and best friend Carl. I've know Carl since I was around 12-13 years old, he was my Patrol Leader in Boy Scouts.

Anyway, it was a long bit of work. Carl is a retired Engineer and I am just good friend who does what Carl wants.

Please Note: If I EVER see another fence hole OR another 90 lb bag of cement before I die will be a day too soon.

The product got dropped from three different locations.

    Then off to work!

I think that I'll continue this in the next post.

I do hope that you will enjoy the journey.

    OK as I mentioned there was a bit of concrete involved;

This is a piece that was bent out of line because of a root. Carl asked permission of the neighbor to remove it.

We built a frame that fitted up against the concrete blocks and then supported it:

It took 9 and 1/4 nighty pound bags to fill the form!

Carl did a nice job (way better than I could have) of keeping the slurry back while he could form the curve.

While it was a lot of work, it's always a good thing to be able to see and help my old friend.

Nice job, Roy. The last fence job I did was done by someone else. I just paid to watch. I bet the weather was beautiful down there. I have family in El Cahon and San Diego.

I'm with ya, Roy. Being a farm hand in my younger years, I ran a posthole digger more than most.

It really wasn't the 'Work" it's that damn stuff that they call 'Dirt' down there. You can't pick it up with the post hole digger so we--------vacuumed it out with Carl's 16 gallon Rigid Shop Vacuum (kinda like this but much older)

We purchased a new filter for it and I do hope that it's OK. However his 15 year old Harbor Freight Portable Air Compressor gave up the ghost. He'd just rebuilt the compressor part but the motor failed so he picked up another one. It's lighter plus has a higher compressor rating of 175 lbs and should last him a long time.

Anyway I'm glad that all enjoyed our little adventure.

Roy, I'm seeing 2 fences . Is it not a shared boundary line ?

No mate, the old boards are where Carl's old fence was. He'll be taking it down, sawing the posts off and having it sent to the recycle's. Who ever owned the home in previous time must have had dogs as there concrete poured underneath the old fence.
