It all started with the old phony "Domino Theory" if one went they would all go communist. That and the also phony Gulf of Tonkin incident. I used to help control the Phantom jets when they came back to the carriers after their sorties in Nam.

Why I never joined the military. None of the wars but I and II had anything to do with Americans freedom or liberty.
I always felt my duty was to stay here, and do what I could to protect our country while the enlisted were gone somewhere else for corporate AmericaMike

Okay, all finished with the M7 shoulder holster. Straps are made of leather. This is the 1944 version of this holster in WWII. I'm considering dying it black. That was the Vietnam era type of holster. WWII was my fathers era. Anyway here are a couple of pictures. Don't pay any attention to that old man you see in one of the pictures. I grabbed him off the street to get a picture of how it looks when worn properly according to the USMC.

Except for cosmetic reasons the only color I can think of changing is the shiny hardware.

Tossing the hardware in a tumbler for a bit....Try some vinegar/lemon juice to induce patina. That evaporrust works great leaving in to soak till desired results.
You can get the look...
I bought a repro bayonet frog and sling for a Jap 99. Tossed them out in the back yard for 6 months. Moved them around with the weedeater on occasion.
They display pretty good!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Maybe you are looking at the wrong places. My wife has been getting into felting purses and other things. Maybe you should look at a purse hardware site.......
Here is one that I came across very quickly. I have never ordered from them and no affiliation!
