i have a citizen eco-drive wr-200 paid 200$ used, black face. it's alittle big for me so my everyday watch is a tissot pr 50 black face leather band, also had a white face steel bracelet but woke up new year day with a headache and no watch...sniff!
i think that in the range of 400/600$ watches those are great buy (might even be less than that now)
i have a gold mido wich is my grand father's watch but i keep it in the safe sine the new year eve's debacle.
I've thinned the herd from my insane collecting days, but have some nice ones left:
1) Rolex Submariner. My everyday workhorse.
2) Rolex Daytona stainless steel black face. Need to buy a lotta jewelry before you get on the waiting list for a new one of these at list price. Beautiful watch.
3) Rolex 50th anniversary Submariner LV, given to my son at graduation.
4) Panerai Luminor Marina titanium. What a cool face.
5) Rolex Explorer ll white face. Gotta have at least one white face sport watch.
6) Omega Seamaster, blue dial, blue bezel. Bond. James Bond.
7) Omega Railmaster. Simple beautiful dial, best on an alligator strap
8) My grandfather's 1940 Longines two tone yellow and rose gold "tank". Great with a tux.
I've got too many to list, but this is what I've been wearing alot lately:

I have severe Watch Acquisition Disorder. Just ask my wife!
I wear either a Luminox 3402 (brightest... tritium... EVER) or a Seiko Orange Monster. They are both fine watches!
I don't really collect watches. I wear a 1983 Rolex Submariner.
A good friend of mine lent me his Panerai 111. I do not if I should thank him or curse him. I gotta get one of these.:D
Here's what I'm wearing now:

For those of you interested, I just ordered this
Heartland America: Steinhausen Chronograph Watch
Appears to be quite the bargain, listed for $300 from Steinhausen. I have been looking for a chronograph watch and don't like batteries (automatic movement ROCKS!), so this is just what I was looking for, from a brand I like (my current watch is also Steinhausen "Marquise") and a great price! Just thought I'd pass it on!
A confession: I have too many watches to count, so I don't know the number... over a hundred, I think There must be a crossover between watches and straight razors. Razors are cheaper, which is a good thing.

some pics of mine. sorry for the weird lighting, i couldn't find my normal photo lights, had to use an led flashlight
I have a Hamilton 992B which was about the standard railroad watch in the southeast.
My daily watch is a Luminox.
My dream watch is a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.
If they still made them, would love to have an origional Zodiac Seawolf.
Oh man. Here we go!
I'm looking at buying a Stuhrling (Amazon has a whole separate store for them...check it out). They look to be decent, yet still affordable for someone who has a REALLY hardcore hunting habit to maintain. Anybody heard of them?
I really want an automatic, and I want something more....classy. No bling. Not big. Complications are cool, but not necessary. I just don't want a freakin' lead anchor around my wrist.
Recommendations?
I love watches but I have only a Swiss Army dual time zone. Breitling's American headquarters is a couple town to the west of me. My neighbor and dear friend does all their advertizing art. I never thought to ask her if she can get some sort of discount. Hmmm
I got a Tissot T-race, Tag Formula 1, a Zodiac, Luminox stealth, a puma and a few digital ones
I like Stowa! I kinda got a thing for German made stuff, and I've really REALLY enjoyed the German watches I've seen. While I might look at getting a Stowa, I'm open to suggestion for any other brand if anyone has any ideas.....
And yes, I've dropped the idea that I want a Stuhrling. I'd rather classy, like a Stowa. :)
Well...Sinn is a bit too busy for me. I don't like the diver or even most of the pilot looking watches. I prefer a more simple case / bevel. Plus they're a bit pricey. I definitely can't spend over a grand on a watch. That just ain't happening.
I stumbled upon this guy though...Manfred Schneider. I particularly like his Romana...
Watch Romane from the collection MSC Master Watchmaker Manfred Schneider & Co.
Has anyone heard of this guy? I think it'd be cool to order from the maker himself, rather than go to a jewelry store and get one off the rack.
Anyone familiar with BALL watches?
http://www.righttime.com/BALL/TRAINM...36d-l1j-sl.jpg
You need to search on the web. Oldwatch.com is one that comes to mind. Its run out of a pawn shop in Oklahoma but their stuff is decent and they do at least check the stock before it goes out however with any mechanical device that maybe well over 50 years old you really need to have it checked by someone who knows what they are doing and expect to have it serviced if you want it to run properly. Cost will depend on the size, brand, model and condition. These days you could buy from about $350 up to, well the sky's the limit but well over a grand.
As far as ball goes you need to forget their claims as to history. That's all rubbish. Its a typical Swiss made watch in the lower mid price category. If you like the style and the lume system and are willing to pay the price its a quality watch.
Yup, they're excellent. I have a couple of them right now. I'll upload a couple pics when I get a chance.
Here are my two Balls <g>

Until reading the posts on this thread I never realized how ignorant I am regarding fine watches. Almost as if on cue a catalog from Manfredi Jewelery in Greenwich, Connecticut arrived in my mailbox yesterday. Wow! Look at these watches: Manfredi
I am especially impressed with the Richard Mille watches: Manfredi In the cataloc that came in the mail it has a watch called "Hommage a Boucheron" which stars at $775,000.00!
Check out Christopher Ward Watches. He designs his watches out of England with swiss parts and far east assembly. His automatic pilot watches are plain and go for around $400 or so.
I wish shaving was my only "hobby".

Funny, I have yet to take any photos of my razors. Hmmm.
How about a Russian?
Poljot, Vostok etc.... Great old school watches and can be bought much cheaper...

There is a similar watches thread elsewhere at the moment where I posted the following. I was gonna just link you, but I felt it more appropriate to re-post, so here it is....
IMHO there is only one important thing when chosing a watch- who it comes from.
I am very sentimental when it comes to watches. I am from the old school that believes in handing down watches through the generations. I would rather have a watch owned by my grandfather than a new fangled all singing all dancing watch.
For my 21st birthday my parents bought me a watch. Its not flashy or special, but it was they that chose it. It has had to be mended once, which cost more than replacing it new. But like I say, the watch means more to me.
This year for christmas I am buying a mate of mine a watch. He has had a really rough time of it this year, his marriage is on the verge of breakdown and the watch he owns currently was bought for him by his wife. They are currently not on amicable terms. I want to offer him this watch as a symbol that if he does want to drop the watch he has because it reminds him of his marriage then he has something to remind him of his friends.
He is my bestest mate. So yes, watches are a very, very sentimental thing to me. If you want my advice, show your girlfriend all the information you find out and leave the decision entirely up to her.
:o

I really like the look of Poljot watches. They are much more affordable than other brands of equal quality.
I just bought this one as the watches you guys have are way out of my league!http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3065/...c8b709e3_o.jpg
I won't spend much on a watch,but I do need a good watch for work, I'm a train Driver.
I have two of my grandfathers GWR issued pocket watches. One still works and I was told it was made in about 1890. If you look at the inside cover you can see tiny tiny initials with dates next to them, when the watch was repaired or serviced by the railway.
The watches were withdrawn from service in the 1960's, Traincrew were offered the chance to buy their watches back, he did.
My everyday watch was untill recently a Tag Heuer proffesional 1000. I had it service about 5 years ago as it kept stopping, it happened again about two years ago so I have stuck it in a draw.
I bought myself an ex-army issue CWC quarts watch(same movement as an Omega quartz has). It seems really good, is from 1989 and only losses about 2 seconds a week.
Once we get to see more of our wages I am going to get a Rolex or Omega Stainless.

Well, if I ever spend a bunch on a watch, it will be a GS.
SeiyaJapan | Grand Seiko | G-Shock | Seiko Spirit | Prospex | Marinemaster | Citizen | 1. GRAND SEIKO
Hands down my favorite brand. Well, outside of some vintage watches and "Maybe" Breguet.
Well I always respected the company and the quality. Japan has always had to work hard for respect of it's products. I have alot of seikos and they are my favorite. I like a few swiss companies. I just don't like the markup BECAUSE they are swiss.
