I've been collecting pocketwatches for many years. Mostly American railway Grades but also have a fair number of wristwatches mostly vintage Seiko's. At one time I had a bunch of swiss and german wristwatches but I sold just about all of them. I got fed up with high prices and poor quality.

I have a thing for stainless rolex datejusts and presidents as well as patek's but I'm a long way from being able to afford one at the current prices.

    Hey Bigspendur,
What does 16 size 21 jewels adjusted for five positons, OF with a Montgomery dial mean to you?

Oh yea... I have a bulova pocketwatch as well... forgot about it since it's a quartz movement not "automatic" or wind up.
I'm totally sold on automatic movements/wind ups... for years I didn't wear a watch every day, and when I would decide I wanted to for whatever reason the one I wanted always had a dead battery.
Someday I hope to have a "real" high end watch...
I'm into cars so stuff like the Tag Heuer Carerra, Omega Speedmaster, really appeal to me. Not to mention Breitling for Bentley.. some nice ones as well.
I'm not into flying or diving (yet) so the features of a Doxa or Breitling are overkill for my needs... I would like the chronograph and tachometer functions.

You don't know what cheap is, mister! Try a Ruhla for size! Made in the DDR... looks good... seldom works! Love it!

I'm not a watch "consumer"... but I'm proud of my Seiko 5! It was my grandfather's watch... aparently was one of the first cynetic mechanisms that Seiko made. It has some flaws, but it looks like a watch... not a Swatch!

Well, its a typical size watch with 21 jewels meaning good quality. Five position adjustment in an older watch is very good, the best have 6 but depending on age 5 is very good also. Open face means it doesn't have a cover on it and montgomery dial is a type with each minute tic on the dial printed out. Very popular with railway grade watches. If you mean does it sound like a quality watch its impossible to tell. You would need to know the brand and model and serial number. Of course condition is important too just like in razors.

I was toying with you a bit... a couple of Hamilton 992... Howard Series O.. Illinois Bunn Special..... Those are some of the better ones. I have a 993 pristine HC, Howard series VII HC. I love the craftmanship..
