I recently bought a box of St. Louis Rey Series G Short Robusto's and have been very pleased. They are 3 1/2 or 4 inches long but have a rather large ring size - Phatash.com has them......

Thanked: 23Backwoods
I know this sounds like a hick comment, and a lot of people won't smoke anything out of a convienience store... but if you're looking for a smallish cigar that tastes great and cheap, try the Backwoods cigars in the black package. Black 'n Natural or something, they're called.
I've smoked Cohibas and a pile of fine Cuban and Honduran cigars and I still enjoy them.
Oh, and when you smoke them... Remember to pretend to be Clint Eastwood in 'Fistful of Dollars'

Thanked: 1Sancho Panza double maduro "Quixote" @ $3-3.50. Excellent value
Arturo Fuente Hemingway "Short Story" or "Best Seller" $4-6.
Stronger? Tatuaje "Noellas" $7.50
All these should be easy to find in shops and definitely online.

My experience is limited, but so far, CAO Maduro is one of my favorite. From the CAO webpage…
CAO Maduro (marketing blurb) vintage harvest Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers around Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers bound by spicy Ecuadorian leaves. (blab blab..) Rich, dark and box pressed, Maduro flaunts notes of cedar, coffee and black pepper (blab blab).
Padron is another I like. The 3000 is a nice Robusto, 52 ring at 5 ½. Nicaraguan tobacco from Cuban seed. Coffee a coca are predominate flavors.
I think I see a trend, Nicaraguan tobacco appears to be my preference as well as the nice dark, oily Maduro wrapper. The CAO is the same size but different shape.

Well.........since we ARE talking about the finer things in life.............my personal favorite of ANY cigar I've tried:
Padron 1964 Anniversario "Principe" Maduro 4.5 x 46
around $7 - $8 (by the box of 25).
Absolute heaven!

The last box I purchased (years ago) was Padron Anniversario. I was shocked by bow expensive they had gotten. I think i have around half of that a few years ago.
