"Allagash Curieux" Belgian style trippel aged in oak bourbon barrels
This is no typical ale! This is something very special and will only improve with age!
Sitting in front of me is a most innocent looking brown glass bottle with a plain light beige label, giving no clue as to the treat that awaits inside this bottle! The only ornamentation on the label is three oak bourbon barrels. the color is a golden orange with a slight haze. The smell is buttery and a hint of brown sugar and spice. Maybe just a touch of alcohol smell. The taste is buttery and slightly sweetish, slightly spicy and definitely warming! There is a nice taste of bourbon. it's been a long time since I have had bourbon but I am pretty sure that's what I'm tasting ! This product comes in a 25.4 ounce brown corked bottle at 11% alcohol by volume. it is brewed and bottled by Allagash brewing Co., Portland, Maine. This is a limited edition ale with only 640 cases bottled. Bottled June, 2007.
I would like to mention that I rarely like brews that are over 9% alcohol and I do not like hard alcohol, not so much for the taste but that much alcohol always detracts from the flavor for me. That being said, to me, this is an extraordinary product! I plan on buying a couple of bottles and putting them away for a couple of years. If you like unique beers, and/or appreciate good bourbon I think you will love this product! Also, if you find my reviews helpful please let me know.

Mark -- you sure do make these sound good and I appreciate you exposing me to beverages I would otherwise ignore.
