    Default Your favorite getaway

I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone on here does to get away from the daily grind. I think that is definiely one of the finer things in life. At least the way I typically do it. I have two getaway passions that I try to give as much attention to as possible. The first is motorcycle touring. I have a 2007 Yamaha venture that I love, it's a great big touring bike and it just lets the miles melt behind you. The second is camping in style with my canvas wall tent. With my set up I don't have to have a campgroud to camp in, in fact I much prefer to just find a spot away from everyone by a lake or whatnot and just chill out and have a good time. I would post some pictures but I haven't figured out how to do that yet so they might come later.

Okay so that wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. LOL

The big question is, how do you pack that tent on your bike?

Ours is easy we either go to Lancaster Pa for a few days as we did last week to relax and visit our Amish friends and some of the craftsman that help us or we head to Rehoboth Beach DE for a long weekend of relaxing and a few enjoyable meals. pretty much just simple pleasures for Lorrie and I.

Typically I don't but had I wanted to I could put all my gear in a trailer to tow behind the bike. That isn't going to happen though as I bought the tent to camp and hunt with and I don't see me strapping an elk to the back of the bike.

Our favorite place would be Siesta Key/Sarasota:

    We go down every year.

Now I'm picturing a dead elk going down the highway behind you in the bitch seat.

Simple pleasures for me. Go to Kelleys island on Lake Erie and enjoy some frozen brandy alexanders from the Village Pump.

My girlfriend and I bought a piece of land in Eastern Kentucky about two years ago. It's a very secluded 30+ acres and we love it. We camp, hunt, and fish on it often and are planning on building a cabin sometime in the future. We both work and go to school in the Lexington area and we find it to be a nice relaxing escape from the daily grind.
