just bought a bottle of Connemara Cask Strength, it's going down tonight :P IU can hardly wait. The normal Connemarais good as it is, but the cask strenghth should be something special

Seriously considering picking up a bottle of Laphroaig 15yr tonight so I can compare it to the Lagavulin 16yr over the weekend

Anyone here tried the Laphroaig 15?

I am relatively new with single malts. My top two are Oban and Talisker. Talisker replaced Lagavulin recently in my top two.

Single malts are fascinating. I have enjoyed them more than the expensive poly-malt Johnny Walker Blue Label.

I look forward to discover more, little by little.

Only the 1/4 cask and the cask strength.

I like 'em. I reckon they only get better

That Lagavulin is a great Islay. A long finish and peaty.

Last one I had was a Glenfarclas, cask strength. Also pretty good, tastes like sherry for me.
But in the pub I was, it costs 4 Euros for 2 cl
After I saw the prices in some online stores, I felt ripped.

Just uncorked an Oban DE 1992...... A tad dissapointed, to me it was unbalanced and seemed to pull in all directions at once. Hmmmm.. Not bad, but not good either, no keeper for me. Too bad, I do like the "standard" Oban....

Next bottle to loose it's virginity will probably be the Glenlivet "Nadurra" cask strenght, almost can't wait for it!!

    Best Regards

Tough to pick a single favorite since some are better for different applications. Morning, afternoon, night, before or after meal, with or without meat, with or without cigar.

Morning/afternoon: Bunnahabhain - Islay. "Barely a hint of peatiness, though perhaps there is some Islay oiliness. A nutty, flowery single malt that, however delicate, has a character all of its own. Delicious as an aperitif or digestif."

    Definitely one of my favorites.

I love the peaty taste of Laphroaig that to me is the best thing about it but I hated it the very first time I tasted it.Try Bunnahabhain. Very smooth.

Got three new ones (new to me) for Christmas...Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or (Sauterne finished it has a sweet taste with a hint of lemon on the finish), Balvenie 12 yo doublewood (excellent in all regards) and Balvenie 21yo Portwood ( just outstanding). All three of these malts have an individual, complex character and will become staples in my bunker.
