I rediscovered my joy with boardgames after playing Axis and Allies with good company (more specifically: smart, aggressive but respectful, helpful, and passionate for the game). I researched like games and liked them. Later, I looked for two-player games that my girlfriend would enjoy. Of the latter I immediately recall Lost Cities, Balloon Cup, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride (more fun with more people), Zombies!!!, Odin's Ravens, Power Grid, and Stratego.

Ah, Go, a game with simple rules but infinite possibilities!

I owned a coffeehouse in the early 90's and had the opportunity to have a regular patron and Go fanatic teach me the game. He was studying Mandarin Chinese in college at the time. I can't remember what level he played at, but I got to where I beat him once without any handicap. Unfortunately I have not played in almost 15 years.

Risk always involved charged emotions in our neihborhood. More than one time somebody stormed off back to their house due to some damn reason or another and then we had to cajole them back so we could finish the game!

    Good times!

Does Cribbage count as a board game? Its about the only game with a board that I truly enjoy
If you find a starving dog and feed him he will not bite you. This is the principle difference between dogs and men.
