Tried the cucumber, very interesting, gives it a crisper, drier taste but I think it took a little something away from it, a little bit of that juniper taste or maybe the evergreen tingle on the taste buds. It didn't overshadow anything , but I really like the evergreen feeling, so I am not sure if I will try it again or not. Ate the cucumber afterwards, pretty strong and it was actually pretty good, but I don't think I will try that again, whoo

Gin for Diabetics?
Two of my factory buddies contracted diabetes. Their doctors told them to avoid alcohol; however, if they did drink any it should be GIN! They were told that GIN IS THE LEAST DAMAGING ALCOHOL FOR DIABETICS*. It helped them cope with habit restrictions due to diabetes. If diabetes comes my way, hello GIN! I appreciate GIN drinks. In the Colonial tropics GIN made quinine a bit more tolerable to administer. Check this out with someone in the medical world. *Always get a second opinion!

I just tried the cucumber, too, and jimmyman took the words right out of my mouth -- it tastes crisper. Don't know how else to describe it... but I like it! Definitely gonna add it to the gin and tonic menu.

I have tried most of the top shelf, casual bottles not just bar drinks I didn't know I even liked gin until I tried a Sapphire martini.
Just the regular Bombay is pretty good. I think Magellan is a little better. Though last time I shopped I chose Hendrick's.
One store had a bottle: Old Raj. over 50$/ 750ml+ tax
ever try that?
that's when I got the gift box of Magellan with a pretty glass to offer my wife as she hates the taste.
Tonight I'm talkative 'cause I had an extra bourbon all well and good
But What is this "Tonic" of which you speakLast edited by kevint; 07-23-2008 at 05:09 AM.

Old Raj gin? Hmmmmm.......
Old Raj Gin
Two words. Hell yeah
Seriously, how much bourbon was it to not know what tonic water is?
It's just water - with bubbles -and some kind of tonic in it

I have to admit,I like my G&T pretty limey.I squeeze the hell out of my lime wedge into the drink.
I like Tanq but I'll have to try some of the others mentioned.IMHO G&T's are the perfect hot, humid summer drink!

Well today I picked a cucumber and another bottle of CD (I actually prefer schweppess, but was too lazy to go to the supermarket and the convenience at the corner has only CD).
I usually mix 50-50 (but now I went a bit lighter on the gin as I am curious about the effect of the cucumber), and I'm not gin connoseur, so it's always been Saphire for me.
Trying it as I type and it's interesting - I like it. Certainly an interesting and rather pleasant alternative.
And BTW I like tonic water straight - I also like grapefruits and various other sour fruit.
