When I was a child, my father often received soaps on a rope, among other things, as presents during Christmas or Fathers Day. I seldom received my own soap on a rope as a present. I liked them. I found them uncommon, practical and fun. They were mine...

I believe that I developed a sense of ownership with my soaps on a rope. Perhaps like with a straight razor, we become intimate with them. Unlike a razor, it literally vanishes in a short time.

Romantically speaking, what was intimately ours is not there anymore. It breaks our hearts. Well..., a little bit. Fortunately, they are more affordable than our sharp friend and we can replace it with one alike or different, with minimal effort (unless it has been discontinued).

Recently, I realized three things:

(1) That it has been a long time since I haven't used a soap on a rope.

(2) That I find them nostalgic.

(3) That, out of whim, I want to find out which soap on a rope is my favorite.

I proceeded to look for and acquire about a dozen different soaps on a rope. Currently, I am on my 5th and I enjoy the experience of using them again and looking for my favorite.

Does anybody else feel the same about a soap on a rope? Does anybody have a favorite?
