Thanked: 735Went apple picking with my family in southern Maine today.
Beautiful Fall day. My 3 1/2 year old son, and 2 year old daughter had a blast.
Laid in the grass in the shade of the apple trees and ate a few. Juicey, fresh from the tree. Can't be beat!
Apple pie/cobbler is on the immediate horizon too!

I am at a loss for words to sum up the heart filling joy and comfort that these dishes bring me. Particularly Apple Pie with a nice slice of sharp cheddar cheese. Sir, you have brought a dreamy smile to my face! I defer to the great Eugene Field:
Your flavored creams and ices
And your dainty angel-food
Are mighty fine devices
To regale the dainty dude;
Your terrapin and oysters,
With wine to wash ‘em down,
Are just the thing for roisters
When painting of the town;
No flippant, sugared notion
Shall my appetite appease,
Or bate my soul’s devotion
To apple-pie and cheese!
...But I, when I undress me
Each night, upon my knees
Will ask the Lord to bless me
With apple-pie and cheese!Last edited by sicboater; 09-24-2008 at 02:55 PM. Reason: Spelling, spelling, always spelling...

Fantastic lunch.
With out a doubt, my favorite style of lunch is the good ol' Antipasto board. This one was absolutely sublime!
-Homemade mini dill pickles with red pepper
-Mozzarella di Bufala Campana
-Picholine olives
-Spicy Cappacola di Parma
Washed down with a Wexford Irish Creme Ale.

Honey wheat pancakes, a long hot shower, a wonderful shave (Semogue #730, Proraso, W&B Bow) while listening to Kamelot, and now I'm off to the deck for an Olivia Serie O Maduro.
