Just make yourself one. I love having a lathe. I have a box full of exotic wood pens but they are all (gasp) ball point. I need to turn a few fountain pens, I think a few kits in the box of parts. I have been using a non descript blue Waterman for 6 years, always liked fountain pens.

The fine nib on my VP is a joy to use with every ink I've tried in it. The only down side to it is the relatively smaller ink capacity that it's piston converter has. You can get replacement nib units for about $30 as well.

I am on my second. The first flew out of my pocket on my motorcycle- It was a Japanese model- the saphire blue- It was incredibly smooth, a wonderfule pen. The new model (black/gold) is great but not the same pen. It is still my favorite fountain pen (out of many).

yes, the piston convertor is useless and the squeeze convertor is worse.

I use the cartridges, and eyedropper fill them. they have a wide mouth, so it's easy to fill them up.

I have been thinking about the smaller cigar piccolo in the same finish. How do you like the nib. I heard the Nakaya nibs are very flexible but can be a bit scratchy?

I am glad I found this thread. I got mine in 2001 as a graduation gift. It is the vintage faceted body style, black with rhodium. (like this one: Image:Vanishing point - Penpedia)

The nib on mine is smooth as butter. I've just given up on refilling it with syringe and bought some cartridges in the Pilot web shop.
