My friend always says that a poor man can't afford to own cheap tools. I have Estwing for all my hammers. I use mainly Craftsman and some Snapon for all my other stuff.

Hand tools for carpentry, masonry, plumbing, etc. may have manufacturers that the craftsmen who use those tools may generally prefer. Power tools are similar. We recently had some major re-piping done in our pump house and I asked the pipefitters' foreman what angle grinder he preferred "Metabo," he quickly answered; "It's the only one that holds up." I have my own preferences for woodworking power tools from both experience and how the tool holds in my hand. Hand tools are even more a personal thing.

Good luck with your tool shopping,

I'll second on the Metabo Grinder. I was in the navy and he had to safe guard those things because everyone wanted to steal ours. They were real work horses. We would replace entire bulkheads in the yards and would have a team set up. some guys welding, other's grinding and fitting. The metabo could handle our 12 hour shifts with no problems. All the others would seize up, and we would actually have to stop work to let the other grinders cool off. Finally the command spent the money and got everyone one. I think back in the 90's they were like 400 a grinder. no telling today.
