On Tuesday while driving to school on the interstate I stopped to move a piece of a tire that was in the middle of the driving lane. Everyone was swerving to avoid the tire and it was rather dangerous, so I took it upon myself to get it out of the road.
Last week while in the computer lab, I noticed that an elderly man was having difficulty using PowerPoint, so I helped him with it.
Last week while leaving Lowes (I was picking up some Dremel parts for razor restoration) I helped some elderly folks load some walking stones into their truck.
I think this is a good thread by the way, thanks for posting.

Another point well taken. And Sidney your heart is in the right place. One of the acts of kindness that we all can practice is kindness to ourselves. To our emotional center in that we deserve to be easy on ourselves and not take others harsh words to our heart. This is a kindness that can potentially reap years of happiness. We have choices in life; to react or not is our choice, and it can't be taken away unless we give it away to others.

Someone held 3 doors for me today while I was carrying a large item. Granted he was going in the same direction, but he was so helpful! I continued to pick up litter as my good deed for the day.

Thanked: 586My girlfriend is (amongst other things) a professional singer. She sang with her band at a private party in Westchester County, NY. The party was to honor and remember a man who died of cancer one year ago today. His name was Joe and his wife Diane threw the party for 200 of her his closest friends. This was a very loved man. (I'd be surprised if there were six people at my funeral to carry my casket). Anyway, Scarlett, my girlfriend found out that Amazing Grace was a very important song to Joe. Scarlett arranged to have some very special surprise guests come to the party where she organized them into an impromptu choir to sing Amazing Grace for Diane. So, after her first set of blues, rock and soul tunes, Scar pulled the choir together. The biggest surprise was Pete Seeger came and was happy to sing for us. (Scalett met Pete a couple years ago and he likes her singing and personality so much they have become pretty good friends. She joined Pete, his grandson Tao Rodriguez Seeger and Guy Davis to sing a few songs at a big show last month in Riidgefield, CT. After the show, Pete introduced Scar to Mary Travers!) So this afternoon, Scarlett, Pete Seeger and a wonderful little choir of Scar's friends sang Amazing Grace for Diane who fell apart sobbing. Of course as soon as I looked at Diane, I started crying as did most everyone else.
Although the party was catered, I got up at 0300 this morning and smoked three beef briskets and made a huuge batch of salsa to give to Diane. The briskets were the hottest item on the menu! I even fed Pete some and he loved it. So I got that goin' for me.Last edited by icedog; 10-06-2008 at 06:39 PM. Reason: Added photos
