    Just to be complete ...

I know alot of guys why went the 'oasis' route without luck.

The oasis is a trade name for an automatic humidifier. Cigar Oasis Electronic Cigar Humidifiers Cigar Humidor Humidification

But for me, I use the term more as slang to describe any auto humidifier device because there are quite a few out there. The oasis is popular, though.

These devices were originally designed for larger humidors .. like the ones that look like an end table or a converted wardrobe ... along those lines. I am sure scaled down versions of these devices are out there. Ever since I started using beads, I dont even look at the fancy dan electronic % RH gage I bought which in the interim died due to lack of batteries.

For a 300 count or even a 120 gallon cooler ... beads, man. Get the beads. Ok, so I am partial. lol.

Most oasis owners I know of eventually give up on it, sell it, and replace the device with beads.

One good thing about the beads is that they dont mold. If you ever get mold in your humi (gasp), the mold doesnt really ever come out of the auto device which is a real bummer. This is usually the reason for the sale and conversion. So, if you buy one ... my recommendation would be to buy new.

This summer i switched to beads ... i first got some and part of a humidor/razor swap and liked them so much i got more for the other humidor and the ice chest.. my hydrometers have read 66 to 68% ever since so i probably should recalibrate them before with pg mixes it was reading 70-73%
    Be just and fear not.

I am a big fan of the crystals as well. You can just stick them in and go. Just double check once a week they aren't low and refill them with distilled if not. I wouldn't use anything different.

Yea, the crystals are way easier than the sponge things, since you can actually see when they are getting low (as mbhodges said). I prefer the crystals, but I didn't have enough for both my humis and I didn't have anything good to put them in (I'm using a shot glass at the moment).
