stick in humidifiers

are all the stick in humidifiers junk or are there some good ones that you can put in your humidors?

In one of my humi's, I'm using one of those cheap plastic-around-a-sponge humidifiers. It works well enough, but you can't use just distilled water on it. In my other humi I'm using crystals; I happened to have about a liter of autoclaved water sitting around, so I was all set there. I didn't have anything purpose built to put them in, so I stuck them in a shot glass.

I've only got one hygrometer, so I swap it back and forth now and then and everything stays right up around an even 70%. In short, nothing classy, but it does the job.

They will work fine as long as they are large enough. Use a 50/50 mix of propylene glycol and distilled water. That will maintain 70% relative humidity at 70 f. You can get the PG at a drug store.

I have been thinking about getting a Humi-Care Electronic Humidifier I actually went to get it one day and they were out of stock. I have a 400 count Humi and stuffing it full of humidity packs/jars is getting old. With winter coming the air is going to get even dryer. Considering that it is half the cost of a box of cigars and I have more than a few boxes in the chest it would probably be a wise investment.

at the office for almost three years. Fill with Distilled water when needed.

No problems at all! Maintenance free.

I have one of these in a 125 count humi and really does a fine job.I purchased an extra water resevior with mine.Practically maintinance free. I keep mine about 69.7 and the sticks stay fresh and I keep the humi nearly full so as not to work the unit hard.More sticks you have in there the easier it is to keep the level even and less times you have to fill the unit.

I use these in my 300 count as well as the cooler. Easy to maintain, inexpensive and effective.

I went all out and bought a pound of the 65%.

I like to keep them all at 65% .. just in case I get the hankerin' for one.

Some guys like to store at one humidity level and smoke at another. This method requires a 'dry box'.

The dry box method doesnt work well for me and my style of smoking.

size cooler?

I bought a medium sized cooler from walmart(tm).

You would be suprised how many smokes a cooler will hold. This one will hold almost 10 boxes... more if they're bundled.

Scored the cooler for $15. Oh yeah. It's not a looker, thats for sure... but it's for the long term storage stuff anyways so I dont have it laying about like the 300 count.
