Thanked: 488That friend needs a good whuppin! Oh that 50 was a lot of fun. We shot it several times. The reason for it was the Coast Guard had a lot of outdated ammo and our PD's range had a backstop thick enough to shoot the 50 (18 feet thick minimum). Two of us in the picture volunteered to fix the berm after we tore it up with the 50 so they let us. It doesn't take long to shoot 800 rounds. We split it 400 each.
That's a nice looking M1--very clean!

i think he needs a lil more... i had known that MF since kindergarten. he took us for around $20,000 and we told the cops but they said they couldn't do anything... typical with the cops here in this little podunk town (bellmead, not actually waco).

Thanked: 488Very nice guns!
Shavelle,
I agree a thumping won't get it. A few years ion prison sounds more like it. Having been an officer for 28 years that makes no sense at all. They have every bit they would need to investigate and prosecute. I'm scratching my head over that one.

Gunner, I do believe I would crap myself if I came upon that speed trap! Mainly for the hair and 'staches though
Shavelle, that bites. I can't believe some people

Thanked: 488LOL---We set that up on the road to the range so nobody would see it:-) The sign says Speed limit strictly enforced. We got that pic published in a police magazine that no longer is published. It was sure fun to do:-) I wanted to do it with the 50 firing so you could see the flash from the 50 but the Coast Guard guy said to much blast to take the same pic--LOL! I can understand that. We took that pic in 1989.

Thanked: 16M2? Oh yeah, those are fun! My old department had a couple of those, along with a couple of Reising .45s and a BAR. I mostly checked out a Reising to go play with though. They sold them many years ago to get several MP-5s. Those are fun too. I can see why they now have a 3 shot burst control, but I can easily do a 2 shot burst with just trigger control.
That is TERRIBLE about losing the old Model Ps in a house fire.
For nostalga...here's a pic. of my "other" .45. For those of you with a year of manufacture list...S.N. 156XXX. Had it for about 20 years, and also sent off and got the factory letter.
And yes I've shot it, with black powder rounds only, that I put together. A friend of mine from the dept. is an old SF guy that did two tours in-country in the '60s and '70s. We went out to his little "range", set up a towel on the roof of my car for a rest, and started banging away. The blast from the barrel/cylinder gap set the damn towel on fire!
It shot just fine, but the groups were about 6 inches at 25 yards. Didn't shave much lead...had worse lead shaving from a Model 66.Last edited by simon1; 01-20-2009 at 10:41 PM.

yea bellmead is 'special' .. they have always been rather lazy. there were even footprints in the garage but i don't think they found fingerprints (forgot if they even looked - it was in '86). a while back i called the cops on someone else that ripped off my lawn mower and they said i would have to prove that it was mine. it ended up being destroyed by the theif.
on a lighter note here are a couple of guns.. the p38, luger and radom are from ww1 and german 's marked. the bottom is a colt bisby 32-20 that my great great grandfather used to tote back in the late 1800's and early 1900's
