Thanked: 586I used to install and maintain navigation and communication equipment on yachts. I did alot of work on a boat in Stamford, CT named Miss MVP. The owner was Lou Pinella. Someone said he was managing the yankees or Mets or something. I never followed sports so I had no idea who he was. I met him on the boat when he came onboard with a guy named Bobby Valentine. I knew his name because of a chain of sports bars he owns but who is he? And what does he have to do with steak?

Shula Cut porterhouse at Shula's steakhouse.
Overly expensive, but one of the few places I think is worth it. For a good value "everyday" steak it's hard to beat a sirloin at Texas Roadhouse.
At home I usually use antelope meat that I've hunted myself, though the occasional beef is nice for a change.
And absolutely right on Medium Rare... I can't even stand a burger more than medium, red meat should be RED not grey.

I just got back from Vegas where a friend and I shared a double ribeye at CarneVino (Mario Batali's italian steakhouse) in the Palazzo. It was a great piece of meat, carved tableside and drizzled with a little olive oil. Prefectly seasoned, charred on the outside and rare inside, I would say that it is right up there on the list of my favorite steaks, although it was also the last one I had (ate it yesterday) and I can be fickle that way.

My favorite cut right now is the strip. Best I ever had at a restaurant was at the Rancher's Club here in Stillwater. Their quality now is nothing like it used to be, but the steak in question was fresh, cultivated beef from university stock. It was medium rare of course, and damn near 2 inches thick. The seasoning was absolutely perfect. The only other steak I've had that matches it was my own on a tiny hibachi grill

So yesterday we went to O'Charley's here in Louisville, Ky. I ordered the "new" Louisiana Sirloin 12oz. steak cooked medium well. I must say, it was the best steak I've had that I ordered in a restaurant. Of course the best steaks are cooked at home. But the dinner was great to say the least.

My favorite - when I was living in Seattle - used to be Prime Rib at Black Angus in Lynnwood.
Served rare, very rare.
