NEW CAR
I'm going in for my SECOND SPINAL FUSION surgery due to injuries I sustained in my law enforcement career on March 9th.Soon I'll have L3-L4-L4-L5-S1 ALL FUSED plus a badly fractured L1. I can't possibly need anymore shaving stuff. I pay all my bills, have a mortgage I can afford-so I doubt I'll be getting a government bail out soon. DOW below 8K. I decided WTF? Buy what I WANT before I'M TOLD what to drive.
SOOOOOO I just took delivery of a new 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. I call it my F*&K AL Gore car. 451 horsepower 6.3 liter 32 valve V-8. I'm increasing my CARBON footprint BIGTIME.
I you drive a Prius and think we all should. Please press "ALT and F4" and tell us about it.Last edited by Lt.Arclight; 02-25-2009 at 01:11 AM.

Thats funny! What does Alt 4 do? Spew CO2 out the back of my computer? Congrats. Sounds like a nice car. I hope for the both of us gas prices stay down.
I bought a 6 cylinder motorcycle and my mileage is pretty high considering. Do you know if the mileage on your car will actually be low?

WOW! I guess you only live once. I am a bit of a car fan, so kudos to you. Watch out for the corners. The fast Mercs are renowned for being a bit lively in the bends!

Thanked: 235Sounds nice, but a merc wouldn't be my first choice. I don't really link a merc with pure unadulterated fun.

Thanked: 278The eco-warriors should be thanking you Lt.Arclight.
The sooner we use up the oil, the sooner we'll get all those alternative green sources of energy they keep promising us are viable options.

Thought you might like this. To be fair, Tiff in the Merc is a great driver & does race.
Awesome car (well, both of them!)

Then you haven't driven the C63 AMG. I took one for a spin before deciding that I wanted a more "traditional" sports car as opposed to sprots/luxury. it is devilsihly fast (faster, at least in a straight line, than the 911 4S), and can handle tooling around town just as nicely as blasting the highways. I would rather really carve in the 911 4S, but for high speed highway driving (especially for a few hours), it's a fantastic car. And, unlie the big S-Class, it's also small and nimble enough to do a serviceable job in the twists.
Congrats on the purchase. ENJOY!

I had a 99 Porsche 911. A quick car no doubt. But the Merc weighs 800 lbs more and has ONE HUNDRED FIFTY ONE more HP. It's completely stupid fast, but then again, you only go around once.6 piston brembo brakes in the front and 4 piston brembo brakes in the back. Why kill-when you can over-kill.
A just find it hypocritical to tell the little people to cut their energy use from the luxury seat of your Gulfstream IV cruising along at close to 0.9 MACH burning 40 or so THOUSAND POUNDS of kerosene to fly to europe and accept a million dollar gift and a nobel prize.. Maybe its just me
