I don't have any pics with me, but I've been working on and off on a 1950 23rd Series Packard Eight. This model was known by many as the "Pregnant Elephant," and for good reason. It is rated at seven passengers: three in the front, and four in the back. The back seat looks like a large sofa taken right out of somebody's living room. The trunk is so large that one of my friends crawled inside and closed the lid in order to try to fix the springs. In there with him was enough spare trim for half of the car and a spare grille. Under the hood she's got a 256 cubic inch straight eight and an ultra-matic transmission.

My plans for the car are somewhere between a restoration and a rat-rod conversion, but right now the thing is sitting in the back of my dad's barn.

I feel for ya, Okie. Stopping work on a project really stinks.

Awesome! I am in the process of restoring a 1940 Packard 120, also with the straight 8. They are massive cars, and parts are more expensive than usual, but the end result is absolutely worth it.

But please, from one packard owner to another... restore it, don't rod it. They are just way to classy to have a big block chevy rumbling under the hood. In the end, do with it what you want, but as much as I love older hot rods, I would never consider hotrodding a Packard... but that's just me.

Very nice Buick! I consider myself a fan of old cars, but lean more towards earlier stuff. Anything from Stanley Steamers to the ultimate whale of a car, the 1959 Cadillac hearse. I love rat rods, but not street rods. I really can't stand trailer queens, either. If you buy a car, you should drive it. I mean, isn't half the fun of owning some crazy rare or vintage car to be seen driving around in it? Just my two cents.

This is a very old thread but today historical cars were in our town.

I'm also a big fan of vintage wheels, being a Ford guy, I've owned several old Ford Trucks (60's stuff). But it will be a whole different situation when I write the great American novel, or win the lottery. My garage will be populated by stuff like this:






And of course this one would come out on those Sundays with perfect weather for the top to be down. It would also be my road trip/weekend escape car.

Any who, I've got a bit of an odd ball, it's a 1973 Saab 96. It's had a schlew of owners, most of whom neglected it, and the most recent painted it with furniture enamel. But I got it for dirt cheap, and it's a project. It drives great, and you can watch the road go by through the holes in the floor. I'm prepping to make new floors out of sheet metal to put in it (I work in a machine shop/model shop). I want the floors to match the current crease pattern so it's an easier welding project, but they'll probably sit around covered in oil until next summer. Here is the only decent picture I have of it (currently, the wheels are black, but the chrome caps are still chrome).

Not true Shazam, there is a whole thread entitled "What are you driving?" in the "Finer Things" forum, it's just no one has posted on the thread in awhile. Check out that thread when you have some time to spare as it has over 200 posts.

These are my DREAM CARS! It may be a bit weird for a 20 year old, but the cars of the 20's are my favorite. I hope to get a Ford Model A Saloon or Sedan when I graduate from college in a few years.
