They also make Copenhagen in the pouches like the Bandits. I tried it and it is less messy but doesn't have the same kick or the intensity of the raw stuff.

Ex dipper here, I was very intrigued when I read about SNUS as well, but I haven't seen anything locallly. Saw an article somewhere that the US tobacco companies are jumping into the market on SNUS as well

Wouldn't mind trying a piece and if I liked it buy the bulk but I won't spend forty five bucks to find out.
they still sell it around here i will try to pick some up soon if you want and i can mail you a plug

Mighty nice of you. If you were to find a plug of Days Work and one of Brown Mule I would have a chance to see if the bulk was worth it to me . Let me know and if you find some PM me. Thanks very much for the offer.

I've been snusing for about nine years now. I never spit, on a average I use 12 pouches every day. There are two kinds of snus, in pouches and loose. You put it between your gum and upper lip. If you use the loose stuff you make a small ball and put it under you lip.

I think it's better than cigarettes, I says on the box that it is addictive and MAY harm your health. A couple of years ago the boxes said it causes cancer, but according to scientists the connection snus-cancer could'nt be confirmed. Therefore the change to "may harm your health". And of course you don't harm anyone else with your smoke.

In sweden snus is really popular, here you can't smoke in resturants and nightclubs. About a million people in sweden uses snus, ca 9 million people total in sweden. 23% of the users are women.

+1. I have heard of this not spitting with snus but I can't understand how it wouldn't make you sick to your stomach if you swallowed it ? Swallowing is not recommended for Copenhagen snuff.

I believe it is the way it is cured is the reason for not having to spit steam cured vs fire cured, also the fact that when placed in the upper lip it contacts much less saliva

Snus is fine ground tobacco that is prepared with salt and water, then pasteurized, and then they add aroma. Are the copenhagen and other variations fermented instead of pasteurized?
I have never seen a swede spit out the juices, it in such small quantitees it does'nt matter..Last time I was in the US I tried this SKOAL stuff(tasted like candy) and some loose copenhagen, I used it under my upper lip..Should I have spit the juices out?

"Dip tobacco, unlike the Swedish variant snus, often causes the user to produce excess saliva while dipping. This is typically spat onto the ground or in a bottle because swallowing can cause irritation to the esophagus, nausea, and vomiting — however, some users can swallow the tobacco-caused saliva with no ill effects."

"Studies have shown that dipping tobacco has a relatively low risk for cancer, but some studies give conflicting results. One, done in 2004, shows that tobacco-specific nitrosamine (TSNA) levels were much higher in American dipping tobacco than those of Swedish products."

"Cancer, however, is not frequently experienced as a consequence in Sweden, where smokeless tobacco use is well-established. It should be noted, however, that Swedish moist snuff (snus) utilizes a different manufacturing process that is speculated to reduce the amount of harmful chemicals delivered to the smokeless tobacco user, specifically by minimizing nitrosamine content."
