    Olivia,

During a season in London of Russian operas, Sir Thomas Beecham was asked for his appraisal of the program. "It was a great success," he replied. "Nobody understood a word" — from "Obie's Opus" by Obie Yadgar.

    Garrett,

You are right about Mascagni's opera "Cavalleria Rusticana" ("Rustic Chivalry"). It is a delightful opera. I have been fortunate enough to see several productions of it, including one in Vienna and the other at Covent Garden in London. It's an addicting opera.

    Regards,

    Obie
