Default Woot, got my table saw

I have been looking for a nice table saw to round out my workshop. Right now I go over to my dads house and use his table saw and jointer then go home and the rest of the work. A good table saw is shockingly expensive. I was looking for a 1.5 horse contractors saw with and extended fence and even those get near 2K, or more, depending on the outfit and brand.

Then a couple days ago I came across this. A Delta unisaw 36-812 with the roller base, extended table, 3 horse 230v motor, stack of blades, etc... for a steal of a deal so I snapped it up. He also had a delta 6 inch jointer (37-190) for a deal I could not pass up and got it as well. That is one heck of a table saw and will plow through anything I will ever push down the fence. Pretty stoked about the deal. I am picking it up this weekend. I found it on my birthday none the less.

    Now bring on the wood.

Ah yes... the workhorse of the shop... congrats, and those jointers are really handy to have too. Those extended fences can really come through in the clutch.... at least they have for me. Looks like fun

That is a terrifical saw. The shop where I teach just sold what appears to be the exact machine you bought, even the fence. Good luck with it!

Good find! I wish I could find one like that.

That's a beautiful saw and jointer! You'll never go wrong with a Delta! Have you ever heard of David Marks? The guy is a god to woodworking. I've been trying to emulate his work for years but I have neither the time nor the money to step farther. David J. Marks Studio Furniture

Too bad about that crack. I hate when that happens.

Nice table. My dad is a long time woodworker and where I picked the but up from years ago. He is the Western Ohio Woodworkers and use to go to the artistry in wood show with some competitive scroll saw work. I have not gotten quite as enthusiastic over it. Time being the big inhibitor, and space. I have several different sanders (belt, disk, strip, spindle) a big 17” Jet press and band saw, Delta midi lathe etc... but I was always limited by not having a table saw. Going over to my Dads place to joint a board and rip it to glue up a few boards was a pain. I am moving out of state so now was the time to finish equiping the shop with the major tools. I gave all of $425 for the saw and jointer, not bad for $5K worth of gear. The jointer and saw are still in production so maintenance parts is not an issue.

That is a nice table. Is that curly maple and mahogany? Inlay work is a ways off me yet but I want to give it a go one day.

Quality tools are things of joy, indeed. That also looks like a great space for a shop, what with the hardwood floors.

Our small house is shopless: no garage, no basement, no decent tools. Cramps my manly style when I can't just build something on the spur of the moment.

Oh man some people have all the luck! Very nice find and an awesome price indeed! My experience with Delta is nothing but positive. They build their tools properly and should anything ever fail they'll take care of it; often at no cost to you. I inherited a Mark 5 which is by far my favorite machine but there are limitations to precision otherwise I use my 48" table saw for everything. "Right now I'm using it to hold up the dust in the garage I need to finish my basement and then set up my workshop. One day perhaps!

I could never produce anything as elegant as that! That dude's done some incredible stuff and I am an enthusiastic novice at best. You are right though: curly maple and mahogany.... One of my goals is to take a few classes of his one year! Check out his galley and you'll be amazed!
