Thanked: 586Terrance Blanchard This Friday!
I am very fortunate to be attending this show in Hartford with a friend of Mr. Blanchard's so I will not only get to hear him play live, I will get to meet him!

TERENCE BLANCHARD QUINTET
Asylum Hill Congregational Church - 814 Asylum Avenue - Hartford
Trumpeter/Composer, Terence Blanchard and his band will be joined by members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in this landmark performance of the Grammy-winning "A Tale of God's Will (requiem for Katrina)." Originally conceived by Blanchard as the soundtrack for Spike Lee’s documentary When the Levees Broke, “A Tale of God’s Will” presents a musical fusion of jazz and symphonic colors that paint a powerful picture of post-Katrina New Orleans. This is the largest scale work we have presented on the concert series and will feature the jazz quintet and 29 musicians from the Hartford Symphony. There is special excitement about this project here since our church has made a commitment to rebuilding in the Gulf Coast region since Hurricane Katrina. We have sent 5 work crews to Ocean Springs, Mississippi where we have built or rebuilt nearly 20 homes for uninsured or otherwise physically disabled families. By supporting the Asylum Hill Arts Series you support the music, art, and drama ministries of AHCC. Spend your money where it counts – support the arts, support the artists.

You know...
One thing i wanted to do while here in NYC was to see Wynton Marsalis play at the Lincoln Center. I have searched for concert dates on and off for over a year and have yet to see anything. Its quite sad.
On a side note...i was able to hear and meet Doc Severnson play once
