Any SR shaving Fly Fishers in the house?
Great time of year for us fly fishers. Any here? I am in Central PA and fish the Letort (that's a Letort brown in the avatar), Yellow Breeches, Clarks, Spruce, Spring, Fishing Creek (just back...grannom and hendrickson hatches), Penns, Little Juniata.......and others. Get out about 100 times a year. Love to host any and all on a local stream. Where do you fish?

I tried fly fishing 25 years ago on a lake in Colorado. There was no one to teach me, so I read some books and magazines on the technique, studied the photos and figured I'd give it a shot.
I resigned immediately after bull whipping my rod Indiana Jones style and ripping my hat from my head with the fly. I've been a spinning rod and reel man ever since.
Thank God I was much more successful when I tried shaving with a straight razor for the first time last year!

No, we are here. We're just mad at you for being able to fish so many local streams and get out 100 times a year.
Here is a photo I took on a trip a few years ago. (Caddo Lake at Uncertain, TX)
Wish I was there now!

Great pics, guys! Yeah, I am lucky. Also learned from a book and trial and error. Took me quite a while, but I'm steadfast...like most SR folk!

Hey there. Used to live near & fish the Snowy & Monaro region in New South Wales for about 13 years. Miss the hell out of it now that I live in Sydney, don't miss the cold tho. Had a very understanding girlfriend in those days. Used to fish 5 nights a week
Pic is a corner at Lake Eucumbene 2004. About 40% capacity due to bad drought. Note strategic thistles that catch every poor backcast. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Yes. My first reaction was "Wow, the Letort". The closest trout fishing is in tailwaters, but I try to make it to the Smokeys often, and have made trips to the Rapidan in Virginia for brook trout. Love Appalachian mountain streams.

Thanked: 154I too like to go fishing at every opportunity, and much of the time that's with a fly rod. I live in Orange County, California so most of the time that means chasing bass and panfish at a nearby lake. I hear that there's a really big piece of fishable water to the Southwest of me, so am planning to try my luck for surf perch and corbina this Spring as well.

I usually go Fishing in upstate PA. I'm just getting started into fishing with a fly rod. Usually I do alot of spin fishing, so this year I am interested in doing some bass fishing with a fly rod. Caught a few trout last weekend on the fly rod, though. I guess I cant be too bad at it .. lol.
