Thanked: 143Help me locate a Becker BK-10 Crewman
A while back I researched survival knives and decided the BK-10 Crewman was the perfect one. Unfortunately they are no longer being made (I don't think). Seeing all the posts about knives here peaked my interest again.
Here is what it looks like:
And here is a description of it:
LifeView Outdoors - Store - Knives - Becker - BK-10 CREWMAN™
My understanding is that Becker left the company that manufactured these (Ka-Bar) and went somewhere else. It might be that a similar knife is now being manufactured under a different name.
So, can anyone help with this? Any more info available?

Thanked: 44oops, nvm
Ka-bar doesn't seem to be making the BK10, closest thing is the BK2. It's very close, only difference I see is that it's half an inch shorter in terms of blade length. The new ones are also made out of 1095, great bushcraft steel if you know how to take care of carbon steel.
KB/Becker Campanion BK2 - New Graham Knives
EDIT: that site states that it has a 5" blade, but Kabar's site says 5.5"

Thanked: 143Yup, not quite the same thing.
The BK10 was .188 instead of .25. Don't know if that's an advantage (strength) or not (weight). The BK10 had a strike plate at the end of the handle so it could be hammered on but the BK2 does not. Otherwise quite similar, except for metal as you noted. The BK2 costs more but that might just be inflation over 5 years or so.
But I might end up getting it anyway. They are so close.

You might save a search on E-bay and have it automatically email you whenever one comes up. It's a pretty handy service.
