If you are interested in cooked pu, then please let me know what to reserve for you since I ordered it in limited quantities. If you are interested in tong quantities, you may also want to reserve that since I do not have unlimited quantites. Finally, teawares are only being purchased in limited quantities so if you see something you want, reserve that also.
Enjoy the drooling.
Many thanks to all that contributed to identifying some of the teas for this Group Buy.

Method for brewing Pu-erh tea
A lot of folks frequently ask me about pu-erh tea brewing parameters so I thought I would address it in this thread.
I don't believe that there is an authoritative source for brewing your tea since the parameters often vary by tea and sometimes you have to play it by ear a bit. That is what makes it a challenge and a bit of an adventure. I am going to largely quote some starting points for green or raw pu-erh provided by Scott of Yunnan Sourcing. However, I will add a bit based on my personal experience:
"Pu-erh tea brewing is not so different from oolong teas. You want the water as hot as possible when you pour it into the pot. If you are going to use yixing, I would dedicate one pot for ripe pu-erh and another for raw. It is up to you, however.
With pu-erhs I typically wash the leaves twice for period of about 20 seconds each time. [Some folks only wash the leaves once]. The third infusion is most often used for drinking. The first two infusions wash the leaves and prime them, use the tea water to wash the cups. The third and fourth infusions don't require long infusions times at all (20 seconds or less). [This time includes the time to pour the tea from the pot or other container. So, if it takes 15 seconds to pour from the pot, then it only takes about 5 seconds to infuse the tea in these early infusions.] Smell your tea and taste your tea. [If you find your tea too bitter or astringent, then you may need to go with zero seconds in the pot before you start pouring it off into the cup. If the tea is too light or has too little depth, then you may need to extend the infusion times.]
Pay attention to the taste and the infused liquor of the tea through succesive infusions, as the leaves "give it up" you will want to extend infusion times to get more out of the leaves. Most Pu-erhs can be infused anywhere between 10 and 20 times.
When prying leaves from a cake or brick, try to remove layer by layer and avoid breaking the tea leaves too much, broken up leaves when brewed will become bitter.
Another factor worth mentioning that will affect the outcome of your brew is how much tea you decide to use. Although many people measure weight (tea) versus volume (water), I prefer an intuitive approach, filling the the tea pot to about a quarter of its volume with leaves. Notice how tightly compressed Pu-erhs will expand more when infused than those that are less tightly compressed. Pay attention to the gradual expansion of the leaves and the flavor that comes out of them. [Another approach to this particular parameter is to use about 5-7 grams of tea per 100 ml of liquid content in your pot. I personally tend to use the lesser tea amounts until I become familiar with the tea.]
Try “tweaking” the different variables I’ve mentioned and pay attention to the result, this is part of the enjoyment of discovering Pu-erh!"
The bracketed comments are my comments. The rest of the information can be found under the tea description on any tea on the YSLLC site.
Cheers,
