Thanked: 150I've heard Cubans are good, but I can make no recommendations. As far as the non-cuban variety, try a Montesino (By Fuente), AVO, or even the 5 Vegas Gold. I really like the 5 Vegas Gold when I'm in the mood for something mild.

Your question is a tough one. I have smoked cigars for twenty some years, and have my favorites....generally in the stronger category. Because your friends don't smoke, I really think they may have difficulty appreciating the characteristics of the cigar you select, though they may enjoy it. I think, like distilled beverages, it is an acquired taste.
But....you can set the stage for their enjoyment. Let them know you've selected an outrageously expensive (you really can skip this part), fantastic, special smoke for them; make a deal about cutting and lighting.. I think if your friends understand that this is a smoke they should enjoy, taste....they will. Flowers are lovely, but we may not appreciate them unless we stop, look closely, turn over, smell ....
OOPS. I see that you are, barring last minute frozen feet, married! Best wishes. How'd the cigar smoking go? Tell us after the honeymoon.

Thanked: 23Thank you!
Thank you all for the recommendations!
I actually wound up buying a mish mash of cigars, everyone got something different. I think everyone enjoyed the occasion.
As for the wedding it's self, everything went fantastically well. Though I can't really ramble for too long about it, as I'm actually currently on the honeymoon. :P
Thanks again, guys.

Thanked: 0Allow me to recommend the Arturo Fuente "Churchill" cigars. I have most of a box of the "Signature" size and have also enjoyed the "Short Story" stubbies. Amazing flavor in a mild smoke It is sooo sweet that I am amazed that it is 100% natural untreated Dominican leaf. I am not a seasoned cigar guy, and the Fuente Churchills are head&shoulders the best cigars I have ever had. I do not smoke cigarettes fwiw.
Highly recommended accessory: a young vintage Port. I buy the Late Bottled because they are almost as good at 1/5 the price. Yyuumm.
cheers Honer

Not to incriminate myself or anything but-
Being a non-smoker, I was at hunting camp and was coerced to smoke a cigar and roll my own cigarette.
I believe the cigar was of unknown origin that had been sitting in a gas station for 10 or so years and it just about killed me.
The cigarette was worse.
Good luck getting them to try more then one puff, lol.
It does, however, have a certain quality and "manliness" factor to smoke a hand rolled or a cigar. Was definitely one of those experiences best tried once to say you've done it and never do it again!
