I am getting ready for a Whitewater canoe trip down the New in West Virgina in August. I am new to canoeing and this will be an instructional trip for me.

    Default Canoe

    Hi
I was interested in buying a kayak ... I love the shape of sea kayaks, and I certainly could stand an upper-body workout! A local outfitter held a "try many kayaks" day a few years back. I tried, and since they concentrated on whitewater and molded fun boats, I did not get to try a true flatwater performance boat. Bummer.
Tucked into a corner was the rep for We'no'nah Canoes. There he had a solo hull, a sinister carbon confection called a Voyager. It has that WWII U-boat look. "Sofort tauchen!" Basically a racing canoe made lakeworthy. I tried it -
-and found my boat. Last year I finally spent the money. It is a slightly tippy boat, but I am getting better with my paddlecraft, and there are some lovely lakes, reservoirs really, here in westernmost Rednekistan.
I love the inner silence, the Zen "be here now" state that I can access while paddling, especially during daybreak when there aren't a zillion motorboats, some of them towing tubers, others with automotive-style stereos blanketing four (bad word.) square miles of water with (worse word) rap or its hapless offspring, hip-hop. Ew ew ew. (end rant) When I feel wound up and thw weather is right (not much wind) an hour or two dipping a paddle in my Tor'pe'doh is juuust the ticket.
    cheers honer

I'd love to be able to kayak often. The little I have done I've loved. Sadly, I can't justify spending the money on a nice one, or even a cheap one (they aren't so cheap). I've got too many other interests that come first and too little space to store it.

I've been canoeing/canoe-camping for some time. It's a neat way to enjoy the outdoors and see some great scenery.
