I wear a pocketwatch every day. I have a leather holder that goes on my belt and the chain attached to a belt loop. If you keep the chain short you don't have the problem with snagging on things. I don't like putting a pocketwatch in a pants pocket because it usually is clanging around with change or keys and even if it doesn't it picks up a lot of dust and lint and vintage pieces are not well sealed. Also when you take your pants off unless you remember the watch can always fall out and hit something.

I have been wanting to get a pocket watch for the longest time, but I have not begun researching them yet. I would like something casual and entry level for the time being before I reward myself with a nicer one later on. Any suggestions guys and where can I begin with learning about such fine time pieces?

The bible is "the complete price guide to watches" by Shugart. The beginning is a primer on collecting pocketwatches and is well worth the cost.

Yup. I happen to be wearing a pair right this minute. I buy the for work because the pants they give out in the wardrobe department here at the casino are the most awefull 100% polyester things you ever seen. They're so bad that $14 wal*mart slacks are a big upgrade.

My $400 wool suit also has the same type of watch pocket in the trousers, and I think my dickies carpenter jeans do as well.

I wear mine in the bib pocket of my Key Imperial bib overalls. There is a watch pocket in the bib of most overalls. the chain attaches to a buttonhole sewn into the bib.

Now that you mention it I *think* dickie's work pants have it as well, but can't remember for sure. I really am pretty happy with the George brand stuff. No high-end designer, but good value at <$20. Also get George brand dress shirts. Wear this stuff to work all the time, but not for true "dress up" occasions.
