I love 'em! Always have. As a young boy, I wasd fascinated by them. My paretns got us tickets to go up in one (likely the goodyear??) when I was probably about 5-6 (probably late '70's or so...I'm 35). I remember being so excited in the car that I almost started to cry. I remember seeing the giant frame in the field. Then all the people scurrying about, and waiting, and waiting....when I woke up I asked my parents if we were going to take off soon...and you guessed it, we had just landed.
Somethng doesn't sound right with the story or my memory, as why wouldn't they have woken me up? I'll have to ask old dad when I see him in a few weeks.
I was excited when I heard about the possibility of bringing them back. Who knows...might still happen.

When Led Zepplin first started, people said the band would never get off the ground....

It's actually a true story....
"Jimmy Page was drinking with The Who's Drummer Keith Moon and Bassist John Entwhistle, who were complaining about their band mates Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. They joked about the two of them starting a band with Jimmy, and Keith Moon said "Yeah, that will go over like a lead zeppelin". When Jimmy formed his own band, he remembered this and thought "Lead Zeppelin" would be good, both from that conversation and the heavy/light contradiction similar to the band named Iron Butterfly. They decided to drop the "a" so Americans wouldn't mispronounce it."

Okay:
What's the difference between Pat Buchannan and the Hindenburgh?
One is a flaming nazi gasbag, the other one was simply a dirigible.
BADDA-BANG!
I'm on a roll!
