    Default Sunrise.

A beautiful sunrise is one of the finest things in life.

There's nothing like taking your camera and hiking to the hop of a hill at 5:30 in the morning to catch the sunrise.

    Here's today's, comments welcome.

Here's the one I added later, just so they're both in the first post.

Those are fantastic. I usually don't get out early enough for sunrises but I do get there for sunsets. These are from Mt. LeConte in the Great Smokey Mountains. 6593ft elevation The total hike was 14.2 miles.

Sunrise and Sunsets are definitely finer things in life.

Nice photos! It's a good thing people like yourself like getting up early because that's about the only time after retiring I'll see one. I saw way to many working the midnight shift at the PD:-)

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't get up early for that one. I stayed up late. I got off work at 4am.

I'm often up for dawn with my son these days, but rarely get to snap a click. Maybe I will now. Anyway, here are some dawn shots from days gone by. The first two are from the Autumn of 2003 when I was up in Atlin Lake BC, way up north. Artists move there just to paint the landscape and if you ever get there you'll see why. It seriously looks like a Group of Seven painting whichever way you look. I'm the guy on the left in both pics. The last pic is from the last canoe trip I took, before Little Man was born. It was just a few days, but what a great escape. My pal Nigel and I went out to Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. Waking up in the wetlands was a real treat.

I don't have any nice sunrises handy, but here's a gorgeous sunset we witnessed in Florence, Italy in July of '06. That's the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio is the large, covered bridge crossing it.
