Journal
Big Red,
Yes, a journal works wonders in the sleepless world. Sometimes, say around 3 a.m., when the world seems to fade from existence, you and the journal come together to create your own world.
How wonderful.
Enjoy your new friend. May you be lifetime friends. Good for you.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 5Hey all, I thought I would post pictures of the journal I made.
Some details about the Journal:
- 500 pages (250 hand folded)
- Spine bound using the codex method
- Kangaroo leather wrapping
- Raised Pheonix of the front
- Raised ridges on spine
Thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated

Thanked: 5Hi Doc, thanks!
Everything was done by me from start to finish.
There was a fair bit of info online that I used when making it.
Hopefully down the track I'll be able to sell some... or at least swap them to satisfy my RAD

Journal
Gentlemen,
Please remember the most important element in keeping a journal is the words that grace its pages. No matter how fancy, without the author's words the journal is like a handsome face without depth, a gorgeous razor without an edge.
Whether big words or little words, golden or opaque, words must join together to make sentences and they in turn proceed to create pages in your journal. They will include your thoughts and reflections: sparks of joy or drops of tears.
So yes, Big Red's journal is admirable, as will be yours, I'm sure, but he plans to fill its pages with words. Will you do the same with yours?
Regards,
Obie

I've kept two journals: One is of my climbs (mountain, rock, ice) started in the late 70s and ending with my last climb in 94. I look at it rarely, but it brings back places, epics, fiascos, sweaty palms and smiles. Hope someone reads it after I'm gone.
The second is of my fly fishing outtings from Jan 2001 to present. Its mostly boring, but an invaluable reference on local insect hatches, fly patterns, and many of the other variables that affect aquatic and pescatory life. I get out about 100 times a year....and after 8 and a half years, it is now quite useful. When I glance back, I find I remember most of the times I've been on the stream.
I tried to keep a journal of bonsai stuff....when purchased, age of tree at purchase, dates of repotting. Didnt keep it up very well.
As for personal life...heaven forbid I put that in writing...lawyer thing perhaps.
best to all
